Since September 2023, RTS has been the Benelux importer of Cold Car, Italian manufacturer of multi-temp cooling/freezing truckbodies cooled with eutectic plates. Cold Car has been building refrigerated truckbodies with eutectic cooling since 1968; the first projects in the Benelux were realised in the 1990’s. With several factories in Europe and South America, this Italian manufacturer is now the global marketleader in this niche market. For RTS, the Cold Car range is an excellent addition to the existing range of refrigerated truckbodies from EGA Lecitrailer and ISONORT in Spain, which RTS has imported into the Benelux since 2011.
A Cold Car multi-temp truckbody offers the user unique advantages. A customer-specific configuration of both body and refrigeration is calculated for each type of distribution, mainly depending on the load to be transported and the number of door openings. The eutectic plates are electrically cooled at night, after which the carrier does its distribution round autonomously during one or two days. Thus, distribution becomes CO2 emission-free, temperature-safe and noise-free. Compared to a traditional cooling engine application, a Cold Car is also more maintenance-friendly and the failure rate is much lower. Because a Cold Car does not require any energy during transport, the application is very suitable for electric trucks.
